Since January, when I decided to become a Marvel Unlimited Digital Comics subscriber, I've had the chance to browse through hundreds of comics. I came across Deadpool, its current incarnation, and read through the 12 or so comics available. Daniel Way, the writer, writes an incredibly amusing yarn. If you've never heard of Deadpool, you should really do yourself the favor of reading a few issues. It's not your typical superhero fluff. It's amusing to have a character that really is mentally not all there.
Deadpool is the kind of character that really should be put on the big screen. He sorta was in the Wolverine Origins movie that came out. He was the bad guy at the end. One thing that irks me is that in Deadpool character shown in the movie doesn't have the same abilities and the one in the comic. In the movie he was some super mutant that could gain the powers of other mutants. He isn't like that in the comics. Also, he never spoke. Deadpool's dialogue is what really propels him to such cult status among those who read comics. There have been rumors about that put Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds can really talk some smack. Go watch Blade Trinity. With that performance he proved that he can play Deadpool.
The series Cable and Deadpool just isn't that great. I can't stand Cable. The best issues are the ones where they concentrate on Deadpool and his madcap adventures.
I'm currently enjoying the mini-series Deadpool: Wade Wilson's War. It covers Deadpool's early career and his origin. It's incredibly amusing since it is played out in a government hearing. I'm enjoying it since I just got into Deadpool recently and it gives some history. From reading some reviews tho, it would appear that this series is out of current continuity. That doesn't really matter to me. I just like hearing about the character and how he is going to get through this hearing.
